You had a great team and now with COVID one of three things is happening.
You cannot work
They get paid more from the government
You do not have enough work to keep everyone working.
Your employees are your most valuable asset. Replacing an employee according to SHRM is up to 75% of their annual wage. If you pay them 40k that’s 30k of costs. This includes all the time to actually find someone who WANTS to work, then if they show up to the interview, interview them. That doesn’t mean they’ll actually decide to work after you offer them the job.
Now, TRAINING. The person that you had on your team for 5, 10 or 20 years, knew all the small details of customer preferences, how you operate etc. Now you have to teach the skill plus all of this. It’s the TIME you took for granted and the mistakes that they will make that cost even more money.
WAIT that’s if you hire the RIGHT person and don’t have to start all over again in 2 weeks.
Even though you may not think this can be controlled. You can navigate this to reduce the cost significantly and some times even eliminate the cost. When you work to understand your staff by ASKING the right questions it can actually accelerate your growth and have a team that goes ABOVE and beyond their call of DUTY fueling your success even more in your community.
